Police in Gicumbi District are holding three siblings suspected of killing their mother.
The trio was arrested on Tuesday after Espérance Bantegeye, 63, was found dead at her home.
According to Christopher Semuhungu, the Northern Province police spokesperson, neighbours suspected that the elderly woman could have been killed by three of her children due to endless domestic wrangles.
The body bore deep cuts on the throat and bruises on the head and other parts.
"We arrested them after residents said they had a long standing property feud. Police are still investigating to find out whether the allegations are true or not and whether there are other suspects behind the gruesome murder,” Semuhungu said.
Alexandre Mvuyekure, the mayor of Gicumbi District, urged residents to always solve their grievances amicably.
