Rwandan referee Theogene Ndagijimana has been selected to be an assistant referee at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations that will be held in Equatorial Guinea from January 17-February 8.
The 36-year-old is highly rated on the African continent after he impressed at the 2014 African Nations Championship (Chan) in South Africa.
Ndagijimana expressed joy at this opportunity to be in charge at the biggest football competition in Africa and admitted it is a dream come true.
Ndagijimana started officiating in 2000 in the first and second divisions of the national football league and in 2008; he attained the International refereeing licence.
He is expected to undergo a fitness test in the city of Bata on January 9, less than a fortnight to the continental showpiece that has attracted 29 other centre referees.
Ndagijimana was also involved in the Afcon 2015 qualifiers where he officiated in the Malawi-Mali encounter where the winner would qualify for the most prestigious football show on the continent.
The soft-spoken referee joins an elite class of Rwandan referees that have officiated on the international scene.
Former Ferwafa boss Celestin Ntagungira remains the only Rwandan to have officiated at the highest level of football - the Fifa World Cup (twice).
He also officiated at three Afcon tournaments, two World Club championships, two U-20 youth championships, the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and several other continental and regional tournaments.
