The world’s oldest airline, KLM, has marked 95 years of its existence by recognising six Rwandan travel agents for efficient service delivery.

They include both International Air Transport Association (IATA) agents and the non-IATA agents. They are On Satguru Tours, UTS and ITA (IATA category) and Sunrise, CITE and Comfort Travel for the non-IATA category. All the six travel agents recived trophies.

"We want to acknowledge both IATA agents, who are in a more visible global service platform, and also the non-IATA agents for a job well done,” Pauline Kariuki, the Kenya Airways, Air France-KLM country manager, said after handing them the trophies on Friday at the Hotel des Milles Collines in Kigali.

Kariuki noted that the agents have been very supportive, especially in hard times like when part of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport got burnt this year.

She encouraged the agents to continue with their dedication, adding that the firm has enough aircraft to serve the market. She said besides Europe, most passengers from Rwanda travel to Johannesburg, Dubai and China.

In Rwanda, the firm operates as a joint company which is Kenya Airways and Air France-KLM. Combined, KLM operates the Kigali-Amsterdam route daily, which connects to the rest of Europe, the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.

Kenya Airways connects from Kigali through Nairobi to Europe and the far and Middle East.
