Classical music lovers are in for a special treat as renowned German pianist Stephan Rahn and mezzo Soprano Mayumi Sekamoto from Japan perform at Kigali Serena hotel this evening, starting at 7pm.
Classical musiclovers are in for a special treat as renowned German pianist Stephan Rahn and mezzo Soprano Mayumi Sekamoto from Japan perform at Kigali Serena hotel this evening, starting at 7pm.
The duo will perform compositions by Robert Schuman, Franz Schubert, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Maurice Ravel, Gabriel Faure, Kosaku Yamada, Frederic Chopin and Johann Strauss.
Stephan is one of the most distinguished and versatile musicians of his generation and has won several international accolades for both his soloist performances and his performances with chamber music ensembles.
He has performed at many concerts such as Konzerthaus Berlin, the KBS in Seoul and the Sunctory hall in Tokyo and his fascination with the organ led him to make a collabo with Stephan Stadtfeld the trumpeter of the Berlin.
Sakamoto is also famous in Japan and she performed many solo recitals in Japan, Germany, Romania, Hungary and Singapore.
In May 2013, Sakamoto moved to Rwanda where she has been engaged in promoting classical music.
The invitation-only class performance is organised by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Embassy of Japan in co-operation with the Goethe-Institut Kigali and Serena Hotel Kigali.
