Police Handball Club is out of the East and Central African handball championship taking place at Nyayo stadium in Nairobi after losing all 3 of their group games.
Although they won 4 trophies this season, Police failed to extend it as they lost to Kenyan teams Cereals (24-38), KDF (30-35) and Black Mamba (37-45).
In an interview with Times Sport, Police Handball Club Coach Antoine Ntabanganyimana blamed the lack of fitness for his team’s poor performance.
"Our league ended months ago, so the players were not in the same physical condition as our opponents. But nonetheless it is a lesson for us to always prepare adequately for such elite competitions,” Ntabanganyimana said.
Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) will take on Prisons of Uganda in the semi-finals today while Police of DRC face Black Mamba of Kenya in the other semi-final tie.
