Rwanda joined the rest of the world to celebrate the world’s Human Rights Day. The national celebrations in Rwanda took place in Bugesera District, Nyamata town. This special day which was proclaimed for the very first time in 1950, is aimed at bringing to the attention "of the peoples of the world” the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as a common standard of achievement of all people and all nations.
The theme for this year’s Human Rights Day "Human Rights 365” implies that human rights should prevail at all times: that every day of the year should be a day for human rights. The day ended with a cocktail dinner and party which was attended by different stakeholders including the Minister of Justice Johnston Busingye as the guest of honor.
