Rwanda won the toss in their opening game against Kenya and opted to field first on Sunday. Kenya posted 97 runs for a loss of five wickets in the allotted overs but Rwanda was bowled out for 31 in 11.1 overs.
Only Marie Jose Umuhoza managed eight runs in the dismal performance against Kenya. However, in the second game Rwanda bounced back to defeat Botswana by five wickets.
Botswana won the toss and chose to bat first. Inspired by Egidie Uwimana who picked four wickets, Rwanda limited Botswana to 67 runs for a loss of seven wickets in 20 overs.
Captain Sarah Uwera inspired Rwanda with 20 runs off 22 balls before she was bowled by Goabilwe Matome. The latter also took out Marie Raphaella Ganimana who was caught by Thapelo Modise after registering 11 runs off 19 balls.
Babyshish Ishimwe also added 11 runs off 35 balls as Rwanda won by five wickets in 16.4 overs. Betty Mukunzi picked three wickets.
In the third game yesterday, Rwanda lost to Uganda by 14 runs after the latter posted 63 all out in 19.2 overs. Rwanda managed 46 runs for a loss of eight wickets in the allotted overs to hand Uganda victory.
In the afternoon, Rwanda fell to the hosts Tanzania who posted 54 runs for a loss of five wickets in 20 overs after only managing 48 for a loss of nine wickets in the allotted overs.
The tournament attracted six countries including Botswana, Kenya, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda.
