Upcoming artiste Davidson Tuyisenge believes in doing what he can to achieve his dream; he took an indefinite break from university to establish himself as a singer.

The 23-year-old is currently a second-year student in the Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) programme at the Adventist University of Central Africa.

Tuyisenge was born in Bujumbura and spent his early years in Burundi before moving back to Rwanda with the family.

He says his passion for music started at an early age but he didn’t have the resources to invest in music, so he would perform at school with the choir.

"When I was a kid, I used to go wherever I heard loud speakers, like rallies and outdoor shows.

They would beat me at home and warn me not to go the next time but to no avail. Whenever there was loud music nearby I had to be there.”

After completing High School at ETL St. Emmanuel’s in Masaka, Kigali, Tuyisenge used his holidays to curtain raise for musicians.

At university, Tuyisenge met a longtime friend, John P, a renowned music producer at Dream Records Studio, and the duet quickly worked on a few music projects.

He has so far released a single called Ndabibona with Dream Studios and the video of the song was released last week.

Tuyisenge is also working on a new track called, Umwibutse.

Meanwhile, the aspiring musician confesses that despite having a track to his name, his parents are still reluctant about his future in music.
