Jean-Luc Ndayikengurukiye insists that his club will not take their foot off the acceleration pedal when phase seven of the Coca-cola volleyball league takes route in Butare over the weekend.

The APR coach made these remarks after claims that since his club have technically amassed enough points to be crowned champions; they will not give their best in the second last phase.

"We are not taking anything lightly this weekend. We want to end the championship on a high and that means winning the last two phases,” he pointed out.

The former national team and APR skipper however said that he would use the occasion to give a chance to his string players especially the youngsters who did not feature in the previous phases.

"We have a couple of youngsters in the team and I feel that this is the right time for them to get the feel of the championship,” he added. After five phase wins, the defending champions lead the way with 465 points.

Kigali Volleyball Club, the only other club to record a phase win are second with 390 points while National University of Rwanda are third with 315 points.

In the ladies category, the championship battle is expected to get tighter when the top two sides National University of Rwanda [NUR] and APEDI Rwaza come face to face in the battle for the title.
