The national senior volleyball team will start preparations for the Zone V championships in January next year which will serve as a qualifier for the All African Games slated for September 4–19 in Congo Brazzaville. The Confederation of African Volleyball Board (CAVB) is yet to set the date and the venue of the event but Kenya has made a formal request to host the competition next year at the end of February.

Rwanda’s head coach Paul Bitok will summon players to join camp on January 5. The top two teams from this tournament will qualify to the continental event but Rwanda is expected to face stiff challenge from Egypt and Kenya.

"We are planning to start the training in January because we want to be ready for the championships and we want to prepare the team,” said Bitok.
