Every tactician undertaking their first assignment at a new club wishes to start off on a positive note and such is the case with Rayon Sports’ newly signed Coach Andy Magloire Mfutila and Mukura’s Godfrey Okoko.
Mfutila, who signed a one-year contract with the Blues on Monday, will be keen on getting all 3 points against a stubborn Kiyovu side today at the Amahoro stadium after the Blues asked him to win all domestic trophies.
One point behind his former side APR also Rayon Sports’ biggest archrivals on the table standings, Mfutila has expressed that the importance of winning today’s game is not only getting maximum points but rather the beginning of something special that the fans will identify with.
Meanwhile, another coach making his debut tomorrow is Mukura’s Geoffrey Okoko, who returned to the Southern Province side for a second stint last week, but, unlike Mfutila who finds Rayon Sports in some decent form, Okoko’s work is made much harder by his new club which is battling relegation.
The Burundian will draw from his experience from the 2007/2008 season when he guided the club out of relegation zone and into title contention. It is the same season that Mukura under Okoko defeated APR home and away.
Defeat for APR and a win for the Blues will send Rayon Sports top of the league summit.
Atuheire returns for Police
Meanwhile striker Kipson Atuheire has returned to full fitness ahead of Police FC’s visit to Nyamagabe where they take on Amagaju on Sunday afternoon.
Atuheire had suffered a right knee injury during the third place playoff against Uganda’s KCCA at the Cecafa Kagame Cup in August, an encounter won by the law enforcers to finish third in the regional tournament in which they were debutants.
In Atuheire’s absence, Police head coach Andre ‘Cassa’ Mbungo was forced to deploy winger and captain Jacques Tuyisenge as a lone striker, which posted mixed fortunes.
