Upcoming hip-hop artiste Da Rest, real name Prince Ishimwe, does not look like your typical hip-hop artiste. Hip hop life style is not his thing. But when you listen to his music you realise it’s the work of a good hip hop singer. The ever smiling and gentle 20-year-old singer is set to release a new track this week.

Born in Rubavu, he started singing in the school choir at ESSA Nyarugunga. But after meeting rappers like Puff G, he ventured into music.

Da Rest released his first song, Narahemutse, a love song, at the age of 16.

He has gone on to release other songs like, Uwo Nkwiye and Zana Irindi, whose video is coming out next week.

Da Rest has performed at school shows and performed as the opening act in Tom Close’s tour of the country.

Da Rest says he was inspired by Brenda Fassie (RIP). "She was a great performer,” he says.

Locally, Da Rest is inspired by Green P whom he describes as a great talent and enjoys his songs.

He is releasing the audio for his single, Ndi Munzira, in the next few days. "I’ve been busy with school and I want to show my fans what I have been through and what I have achieved,” he said. The track is being worked on by producer Puff G with Super System Productions.
