The National rugby team coach Isimeli Mocevakaca has called on the new rugby administration to organise more friendly games against regional countries as a way of building the competitiveness of the national team-Silverbacks.

The sport has stagnated in the last few years but there is hope that the new rugby administration led by Alex Araire, a former player will revamp the sport.

"I am happy with how the boys played in the CAR tournament in Kigali this year but the Federation should organise more games against better sides like Kenya and Uganda,” Mocevakaca said adding that the country needs a strong team  that can compete in regional and continental competitions,” the Fijian national said.

The 51-year-old who played semi-professional rugby in Fiji is a volunteer coach with the national team and also dubs as Lion de fer rugby club trainer.

Rugby President Alex Araire agrees with the Silverbacks coach saying that one of the key things they are working on is to have the league start next month.  The rugby league was not held last year due to financial constraints.

Araire also said the requirements for teams to participate in the league include clubs availing team lists of their players, having the capacity to pay for players’ medical insurance and logistics like playing kit.
