AMAVUBI Coach Stephen Constantine finds playing more international friendly matches as a key to good preparations of a reliable team ahead of CHAN Championship that will be hosted in Rwanda.

With Ethiopia having declined to host this year’s Cecafa championship, Amavubi may next play a game in march, something that Constantine thinks is not good for a team that has only played together once.

"Although am happy with how the boys coped against the much experienced Morocco team, we need many of these friendlies to put together a team that can represent the country in CHAN next year,” the Briton said.

The 52 year added that, "We will get better by playing more games, we’re going back home and sit with FA to see if we can have one or two more friendly matches before Christmas.”

Constantine who was appointed Amavubi coach in May, taking over from Eric Nshimiyimana has had an impressive first six months, having won four, drew one and lost only one match respectively.

The former Nepal technician retired from playing at the age of 26 in 1988 in the United States due to constant injuries and has a vast coaching career.

Before coming to Rwanda, He had previously coached five national sides which are: Cyprus, India, Nepal, Malawi and Sudan.
