Rayon Sports fans have petitioned the club management to bring back winger Cedric Hamiss who left the club after a six-month ban by the National Football Federation (Ferwafa) due to violent conduct during a league game against AS Kigali last year.

The Burundian currently plays for Chibuto FC in the Mozambique top flight league. Cedric has a 3-year-contract with the club and is reportedly earning $3000 (Rwf2m) a month.

Jean Claude Muhawenimana, the chairman of the Rayon Sports Fans Club told this paper that they are ready to mobilise for funds to help the club buy the player who is widely regarded as one of the best to play for them.

"We have started a campaign to call on all our 68 fan clubs in the country to contribute on a regular basis through our bank account in Bank of Kigali so that we raise money to help the club bring him back,” Said Muhawenimana.

Cedric scored 16 goals in the 2012/13 season as the Blues won the league title after 8 years. He was also voted the club’s best player.

However despite the Club’s determination to bring back Cedric, the club administration is not in a rush citing the huge transfer fee and salary that he would request as a stumbling block.

"We would love to bring him back because we know what a player of his potential can do for us but he is paid well in Mozambique. We would struggle to afford even half of what he earns or get money to buy out his contract, "said Aime Emmanuel Niyonsabye, the Club’s Secretary General.

However, Niyonsabye says the club fans can fundraise and bring back the winger who is currently on holiday in the country.

The Blues are also pursuing a coach with the club administration keen on hiring former Amavubi U-17 and U-20 coach Richard Tardy.
