IT was a special event as artists from Kacyiru-based Inema Arts Center converged at Heaven Restaurant in Kiyovu for an exhibition, whose purpose was to blend music, arts and food. The inaugural event was held on November 8.
Revelers were treated to nice pieces of paintings that graced the walls of the restaurant, as well as traditional food and music played by Axel Bilal from Ivory Coast.
Bilal said it was beautiful seeing music, food and arts blend as an expression of attractive authentic African culture.
Bensassi Albetlihali, an abstract artist from Morocco but based at Inema, said the event will go a long way in promoting Rwandan culture to tourists that visit the restaurant.
"People can now come and interact with artists and this is good since art is a potent tool of promoting culture,” said Bensassi.
Caleb Igarimeza, the administrator of Heaven Restaurant said that the restaurant has been at the forefront of partnering with talented Rwandan artists to showcase their attractive artworks to the revelers that visit the restaurant. Inema has an arts gallery at one of the restaurant’s wings.
Emmanuel Nkuranga, co-founder of Inema Arts Center, said the event is geared towards showcasing beautiful Rwandan culture to both locals and tourists that normally throng Heaven Restaurant.
Nkuranga said the monthly event will be held every second Saturday of the month.
