Manzi James aka Humble Gizzo is a member of the ragga/dancehall group Urban Boyz. Humble Gizzo has established himself as one of the most talented artistes in the country and with Urban Boyz doing collabos with international musicians; the sky is the limit for Humble, who is also an aspiring designer.

He revealed some of his fashion secrets to Society Magazine’s Dean Karemera.How would you describe your dress sense?

I would say casual smart but the most important thing is to feel comfortable in what I’m wearing.

What’s your favourite clothing item?

I like fitting clothes. Say a nice fitting shirt, a pair of jeans and sneakers. Usually, when I’m doing a video shoot, I prefer to wear something with a bit of red but when I go for a wedding or a VIP concert, I usually like to go for black or white. Those three colours are my favourite.

Where do you shop for clothes?

When I have a VIP event, I go to Ian Boutique located in town. When I’m looking for clothes for a video shoot, I go to Big Shop that is owned by Boston. However, I’m also a designer. I can come up with my own ideas and just have someone make it for me.

What do you consider when shopping?

I consider two things; the first is where I’m going and what I’m going to do. Secondly, I also consider what is trending in the world of fashion.

What is your favourite fashion accessory?

I like neck chains and watches.

What do you like on a lady?

It depends. For a night out; I prefer a lady in a red mini skirt, matching blouse, heels, some make up and jewelry. For office, I like a lady in a nice fitting dress.What’s your favourite scent?

I love Hugo Boss perfumes.What is the most expensive fashion accessory that you own?

A pair of Flight Jordan sneakers I bought while on tour in Europe. I bought one pair at €250 and another pair at €150, when converted; it is about Rwf 350,000.

What’s the secret towards maintaining healthy dreadlocks?

Dreadlocks can be a mess if not properly maintained. One needs to have shampoo or even moisturiser spray to clean them while at home. However, it is important to visit the salon after every two months for them to be redone.

Any fashion advice?

People should learn to always check out the season when choosing what to wear. It doesn’t make sense to find someone in a heavy sweater during the hot season. Secondly, it is important to know where you are going. If it is church, don’t go dressed like a person going to a night club.
