President Paul Kagame has called on Gasabo district residents to always demand quality services in education and healthcare, as well as access to electricity and clean water, among other areas.

He was today addressing thousands of residents who had gathered at Bweramvura ground in Jabana Sector, Gasabo to receive him during his visit to the area today.

The President challenged Gasabo residents to closely work with their leaders to achieve further socioeconomic progress.

"The role of leaders is to serve all of you equally and it is your right to demand accountability. Leaders are here to work with you to solve the challenges you face not to serve their own interests.

"The goal is to develop; development that is based on the ability of people to access services,” he told the cheering crowd.

Jabana Sector is made up of about 33,000 residents and is one of the 15 sectors that make up Gasabo, one of the three districts that constitute the City of Kigali.

The main economic activities in Jabana include agriculture, with more emphasis on maize, rice, bananas and sugarcane growing, as well as stone quarrying.
