Thousands of residents in Kigali City’s Gasabo District are gathered at Bweramvura cell grounds in Jabana Sector to receive President Paul Kagame who is visiting them today as part of the Head of State’s routine meetings with the people.

Jabana has gone from being one of the few areas without electricity to having 16 percent of households enjoying electricity within the last three years.

The Mayor of Gasabo District, Willy Ndizeye, has said that the President’s meeting with Gasabo residents will be dominated by discussions about the District’s economic development.

The Sector is made up of approximately 33,000 residents and is one of 15 sectors that make up Gasabo District. Among these residents include 158 Rwandans who were unlawfully evicted from Tanzania last year. The District has built 49 homes for the less able among them.

The main economic activities in Jabana include agriculture, with an emphasis on maize, rice, bananas, and sugarcane, and stone quarrying.
