Joshua Mwanja scored 60 runs as Right Guards beat Telugu CC by five wickets to qualify for the final of this year’s UA Exchange and Xpress Money 50-overs premier league.

In the preliminary round, Right Guards finished second in group B which also included Indorwa (top) and Victory CC while Telugu topped group B, Kigali Cricket Club (second) and Challengers CC.

On Sunday, Telugu won the toss and batted first making 218 runs in 42.3 overs all out; Right guards chased the score and managed to put on 221 runs in 47.2 over with 5 wickets in hand.

Thanks to the great partnership between Mwanja and Derick Bayingana (57 runs) which made 117 runs all together.

"It’s been a tight game for sure, we lost to this team in last year’s Computer Point T20 tournament, so it’s good revenge for us,” said Right Guards captain Eric Dusingizimana.

Meanwhile, Telugu captain Shiva Ratan admitted that his team didn’t do enough to win and wished Right Guards the best at the final. "The better team has won,” he said.

The second semi-final between Indorwa and Kigali Cricket Club will be played on Sunday at Kicukiro oval. The winner will face Right Guards in the final on November 23.
