RWANDA U-23 boys’ volleyball team yesterday underlined their intentions in the ongoing African Championships in Egypt after thrashing Libya 3-0 in the opening match at the Sharm El Sheik indoor court.

Paul Bitok’s side dominated all sets (25-20, 26-24 and 25-21) with Nelson Murangwa, Yves Mutabazi and captain Aimable Mutuyimana impressive with their spikes.

Fred Musoni and Fabrice Nkezabahizi were also exceptional in blocking the serves from the Libyans.

Bitok praised his team’s start and called for a similar performance when they take on Tunisia this afternoon at the same venue.

"I cannot ask more from the boys. It was a brilliant performance but we now need the same performance against Tunisia,” Bitok said.

Meanwhile Tunisia also beat Morocco three sets to nil (25-17,25-18 and 25-14)

The top two teams will represent Africa at the FIVB Men’s U23 World Championships 2015, which will take place in Brazil from October 6-13.
