Rwanda’s afrobeats star Bruce Itahiwacu, popularly known as Bruce Melodie, has bagged another nomination at the Trace awards slated for October 21, at the BK arena in Kigali, Rwanda.

The 'Saa Moya' hitmaker was nominated under the category of Best African Artiste, competing with global stars like Diamond Platnmuz, Nadia Mukani, and Zucu among others.

Bruce Melodie is also among the five Rwandan artistes previously nominated in Trace awards under the category created as a tribute to Rwanda for hosting the first kind of this event sponsored by Visit Rwanda and Martell.

In a recent interview with The New Times, Olivier Laouchez, chairman and co-founder of Trace, said that Rwandan artistes will soon be considered for other categories in the awarding ceremony, seeing how extraordinarily creative and dynamic they are, which is why they deserve more global recognition and celebration.

The highly anticipated event will also feature performances by some of the biggest musicians on the globe including the likes of Asake, Tayc, Davido, Olamide, Kiss Daniel and many others.

Presented by Visit Rwanda and Martell, the Trace Awards will take place at the BK Arena, Kigali, Rwanda on October 21, and 7, 000 music fans will have the opportunity to experience the live event, which will be shown on a purpose-built stage.

The entire African continent will be represented by its best artistes at the TRACE Awards, showcasing the excellence and diversity of Afrocentric music in genres such Afrobeat, Dancehall, Hip Hop, Afro-pop, Mbalax, Amapiano, Zouk, Kizomba, Genge, Coupé Décalé, Bongo Flava and rap among many other genres.

Competing in 22 award categories are platinum-selling artistes from more than 30 countries in Africa, South America, the Caribbean, the Indian Ocean and Europe including Algeria, Angola, Brazil, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Comoros, DRC, France, French Guiana, Gabon, Ghana and many other countries.

The winners will take home one or more Trace Awards Trophies - unique pieces of art designed by acclaimed Congolese sculptor and designer, Dora Prevost.
