The team left the country on Monday evening and reached Cairo on Tuesday morning before travelling to the tourist city of Sharm El Sheik, the venue for the continental meet, which is 300km from the Egyptian capital city.
Botswana has pulled out from the tournament, which means that Rwanda, Libya, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco will play robin round and the top two will quality for the 2015 FIVB Men’s U23 World Championships, which will take place in Brazil from October 6-13.
"Our aim is to go far in this competition, since we have managed to be here, we are determined to compete with every team to the best of our ability,” said the team’s assistant coach, Jean Marie Nsengiyumva.
Setter, Bonnie Mutabazi said that he and his team mates are well prepared to do the country proud by qualifying for the World Championships.
He noted: "Last year we did it (with the U19 and U21), so I believe we can do it again.” The first games are scheduled for Friday (today) but by press time the fixtures had not yet been released.
