APR dropped two points yesterday after being held to a goalless draw by Police FC in the National Football League at Kicukiro stadium.

With both sides missing key players, the game was largely a dull affair and both teams seemed to be happy with a draw.

Captain Ismael ‘Kodo’ Nshutiyamagara and Jean Baptiste ‘Migi’ Mugiraneza had chances to score from corner kicks taken by Jean Claude Iranzi which did not amount to anything.

Police’s right back Mohamed Mpozembizi took a long shot at goal on a break but it went inches above the woodwork, an effort that left goalkeeper Olivier Kwizera helpless on the ground.

In the second half, Police mounted a series of attacks orchestrated by captain Jacques Tuyisenge but his lone presence upfront did not cause much of a threat as APR defenders Nshutiyamagara and Emery Bayisenge kept it tight at the back.

"A draw is okay for us because this is our second game in four days. The players are tired and I am missing seven players so this is a good result. I cannot complain,” Ljubomir Petrovic, APR coach, said.

Police’s head coach Andrew Cassa Mbungo admitted that walking away with a point against the reigning champions is good enough because of the absence of key players like Mwemere Ngirinshuti and striker Kipson Atuheire.

APR maintain top spot on the league table with 14 points while Rayon Sports are second with 13 points after captain Fuadi Ndayisenga scored the lone goal to secure victory against Espoir at Kigali regional stadium.

Amagaju sit in third position with 10 points ahead of SC Kiyovu on goal difference. Police and AS Kigali are level on nine points from five games but the law enforcers are ahead on goal difference.
