NORTHERN PROVINCE

MUSANZE — The Liberal Party (PL) has plans to improve the welfare of Rwandans by enhancing economic development, the party president said.

Dr. Evariste Kalisa said this recently during the launch of the party’s campaign manifesto for the September 15 parliamentary polls in Musanze district.

The manifesto focuses on several issues including social and political development, and promoting a culture of democracy in the country.

About 100 party members attended the rally at Ubworoherane stadium. At the rally, the party faithful said that they were committed to rallying rural communities behind the party.

Campaigning on a wide range of issues, Kalisa said that the party was born in 1991; at a time when it was needed most, when there was no respect of human rights and when divisionism was rife in the country.

In the meantime, five parliamentary candidates who hail from the Northern Province campaigning on the PL ticket were presented before the members.

On security, Dr. Kalisa said that there was need to increase security for the vulnerable people such as Genocide survivors, the disabled and women.

The youth were called upon to become more vigilant in the fight against diseases especially HIV/AIDS.
