The Rwanda Athletics Federation, RAF has ruled out Rwanda’s involvement in next month’s Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon.

The federation’s technical director, Emmanuel Murenzi attributed Rwanda’s omission from the regional event to unavailability of athletes.

"In the same period, our top athletes will be shaping up for the World Road Running Championship due in Italy,” Murenzi said.

Athletes who fall in this category include Dieudonne Disi and the duo of Gervais Nizeyimana and Gervais Hakizimana provided they excel at this weekend’s 20km event.

With over six weeks before the Nairobi event, over 30 foreign athletes have confirmed their participation.

USA tops the charts with six athletes, Uganda with three while Britain and Taiwan follow with two each.

The event is scheduled for October 28 but October 1 is the registration deadline.

Organizers have provided for online registration through the event’s official website; nairobimarathon.com.
