Gatete 26, who scored Amavubi consolation in their 1-2 loss to Indomitable Lions of Cameroon last week hailed team-mates for their second half display after going down 2-0 in the first 53 minutes.

It’s a game we must win and claim at least the third place in the group,” he said.The APR forward added that, "We can’t qualify but a victory against Liberia can move our nation to a good position in the Fifa and Caf ranking at least.”Gatete who was once, Rwanda’s most lethal striker noted that "It’s also the right time to start preparations for Can 2010 since we have bowed out of the race to qualify for the next tournament in Ghana finals next year.” The Wasps’ captain has come off the bench in the last two games and made an impression but has warned that it’s only through early preparations that the team will get back to winning ways. Amavubi Stars are laying bottom of group five with three points after the fifth round of the Nations’ Cup qualifiers. Cameroon leads the group with 15 points, followed by Equatorial Guinea with seven points and Liberia is third with four points respectively. Rwanda lost their chances of qualifying after losing to Cameroon last weekend but Gatete said they are determined to win the last group fixture and claim the third spot.
