National football league champions Atraco have confirmed their interest in signing Uganda’s Johnson Bagoole from Uganda Revenue Authority (URA Fc).
Club vice president Issa Ngenzi yesterday revealed to Times Sport that Bagoole is one of the players the club is targeting from the Uganda national super league.
"Bagoole is among the players we want to sign,” Ngenzi said.
Uganda’s Daily, New Vision has meanwhile reported that Police boss Sam Timbe and URA’s midfielder Tony Maweje are on the verge of joining Atraco.
However, Ngenzi refuted the reports insisting that Jean Marie Ntagwabira’s ex- assistant Emmanuel Ruremesha is up to the task.
Despite efforts by Times Sport to talk to Timbe, the Ugandan has remained silent on the issue.
"I can’t comment on those reports but I would refer you to Atraco,” Timbe said.
Atraco will represent Rwanda in next year’s African Champions league and are said to be working round the clock to beef up their squad after losing Patrick Mafisango and Ismail Nshutinamagara to APR.
The club also lost their head coach, Jean Marie Ntagwabira under mysterious circumstances.
Timbe is the second coach to be linked with a move to Atraco in a space of two weeks.
Former Tusker coach Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee who was sacked a month after leading the club to the East and Central African club title is reported to be negotiating a move to Atraco.
Atraco has earned a reputation of losing coaches under cloudy conditions. Three years ago, the club parted ways with Uganda’s Sam Ssimba who had guided the club to the second preliminary round of the Caf Confederations Cup in their debut season in the top flight.
And last month (August), Ntagwabira was fired after guiding the club to their first ever league title.
