The 2023/2024 Rwanda Basketball League (RBL) will be graced by two new teams – Inspired Generation and Kepler University.
The two teams qualified from Division 2 having topped its table. Inspired Generation were the champions of the division, while Kepler were the runners up.
They replaced four teams that were relegated - IPRC- Kigali, Shoot 4 Stars, IPRC-Musanze and IPRC-Huye. The RBL will now have 10 teams as opposed to the 14 that it had last season.

Inspired Generation
Inspired Generation was founded two years ago and is owned by US-based Duke Efufa, who is also their current head coach.
They won the Division 2 trophy by beating Kepler University 3-0 in the best of five final series of the finals.
Before their successful season, the team had played for one year in Division 2 and finished in fourth place.
Star Man: Oyono Nicolas
One of their key players is forward Oyono Nicolas, a Cameroonian who scored 151 points for them in the seven games he played. In addition, he contributed 61 rebounds and 10 assists.
Kepler Basketball club
It is a university team that started playing in the second division league in 2023.
They finished in second place of Division 2, behind Inspired Generation.
The team is coached by Rene Sahabu, a tactician who also coaches Groupe Scolaire Marie Reine Rwaza in the women’s basketball topflight.
Star man: Furaha Lajoie Muburanyi
DR Congolese point guard Muburanyi is one of the key players who played a good role in the club’s rise.
He played nine games, scored 169 points, 43 rebounds, 4.7 rebounds and 42 assists.

The two clubs – Kepler University and Inspired Generation will face a serious test in the topflight where they will be up against giants like Rwanda Energy Group (REG), Patriots, and APR.
