The National Consultative Committee on Fast Tracking the East Africa Political Federation (NCC/EA-PF) together with the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR) ended a two-day training of data collectors one Sunday. These are to gather people’s views and opinions about an East African Political Federation (EA-PF).

"The data collection activity will be covering all the provinces in the country, including MVK. We shall be interviewing 100 correspondents in each district. Two data collectors will be covering one district in six days,” said Alphonse Murenzi, a trainer from NISR.

According to the Chairman of the NCC/EA-PF, Prof. Anastase Shyaka, the data collection is intended to gather people’s views, opinions and interests regarding the integration in the forthcoming East African Political Federation.

"At this stage, the NCC/EA-PF wants to gather people’s views and opinions from all parts of the country. This time around, we are using questionnaires in this data collection process,” said Prof. Shaka. He added that the findings will be compiled in a report which will later be submitted to the authorities in charge.

"It is prudent for people to be involved at all stages of an undertaking like this. This is one way of involving them in the EA-PF process,” added the Professor.

The data collection exercise is set to take seven days and in this period, the data collectors are expected to traverse and get views from all parts of the country, getting 25 respondents from each sector.
