The annual gospel music awards, Groove Awards, may not take place this year after the lead judge Aimable Twahirwa resigned citing irregularities and dishonesty among the organising committee members. The annual awards are a product of Groove Awards Kenya but a Rwandan version was created to Award gospel singers in the country.
However, the awards suffered a huge blow last month when Patrick Kanyamibwa, who was the lead organiser and promoter of the awards, passed on. Our snoops say that since Kanyamibwa’s passing, the whole process has been a sham characterised by unexplained dealings that Aimable said he can’t be a part of.
Our snoops say that the main organisers in Kenya are considering pulling the plug on the awards. It remains to be seen what will happen to local gospel artistes who were already nominated for this year’s Groove Awards.
Diamond Platnumz for East African Party
Tanzanian music star Abdul Juma Nasibu aka Diamond Platnumz is set to rock the stage at the annual East African Party on New Year’s Eve. According to our snoops, Diamond is the most sought after musician at the moment in East Africa. Diamond, who featured in the popular Kigoma song, will be the main guest at the East African Party along with other Rwandan artistes.
According to our snoops, the deal was reached after Diamond failed to honour two invitations, including attending Mico the Best’s album launch which he cancelled at the last minute.
Diamond became famous after releasing Mbagala, a song that ruled air views across East Africa. He has so far collaborated with Nigerian superstars Davido, Iyanya as well as Tanzanian rapper Professor J.

Traditional music singer Intore Massamba is on a mission to popularise Gakondo music across East Africa, according to our snoops. After successfully launching and maintaining the show in Rwanda with weekly performances at Hotel de Mille Collines, Masamba is in Uganda to launch a monthly Gakondo night show.
According to our snoops, Masamba decided to take it to Uganda after several Rwandans based in Uganda requested him for a show. According to our snoops, Masamba plans to launch a similar show in Kenya.
Dj Zizou feuds with Uncle Austin
Famed Rwandan music DJ, Zizou Iradukunda aka Zizou Al Pacino is said to be feuding with fellow musician and radio presenter Austin Tosh Luwano. Our scouts indicate that it all started after recording Zizou’s recent song with Urban Boyz, King James and Riderman dubbed Niko Nabaye.
According to our snoops, Uncle Austin beefed with Zizou over payment issues and that was the reason Uncle Austin was thrown out during the shooting of the video yet he was among the people who did the audio version. Our snoops confirm that Uncle Austin was not happy with Zizou’s action and has since decided never to feature in any of his songs. Zizou is behind big hits like Bagupfusha Ubusa, Fata Fata and Niko Nabaye among others.
