MUSANZE — Fridah Ingabire has been crowned Miss Higher Institute of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry (ISAE) for the year 2008-09.
In a beauty contest, the first of its kind in the history of the Institute, Ingabire beat four other girls to be crowned the winner.
Local musicians including Rafiki, Kay-J, Mishiki, The rain and traditional dancers entertained the audience. The musicians thrilled the highly congested auditoria with ground shaking songs as area residents and hundreds of students watched the ceremony from projectors in different halls.
The new Miss ISAE was awarded Frw150,000, a mobile phone handset with airtime worth Frw25,000 and cosmetics.
Sandra Umutoni and Colette Nyinawumuntu who were the first and second runner’s up respectively were also awarded cosmetic materials.
All the participants were recognised for different models. Yvonne Umutesi was crowned miss Elegance, Pauline Kaitesi Miss Joliement while Uwera Mbanzabugabo was crowned Miss Wumunozangendo.
The contestants were subjected to a quiz to test their intelligence on general issues, public presentation, modeling in different wear including traditional wear, casual, evening wear, and a fashion show.
The university Rector, Dr Charles Kalemangingo, said that the function was one way of promoting Rwanda’s culture and asked the newly crowned girl to become a flag bearer for the institute.
The function attracted local area politicians including Governor Boniface Rucagu, Regional police commander and other local authorities.
It was sponsored by SULFO, which provided the cosmetics, MTN, SMS media, BEAR Company, Bralirwa, Contact FM, Virunga, Rwanda Motors among others.
