Jacques Tuyisenge netted a hat-trick as Police FC humiliated SC Kiyovu 5-0 in the national football league yesterday afternoon at Kicukiro stadium.

Goalless at half time, Police put pressure on their opponents at the start of the second period and their efforts paid off in the 58th minute when Tuyisenge beat the entire Kiyovu defense to find the back of the net.

Left unmarked in the penalty box, Tuyisenge doubled the score six minutes later to give Police a 2-0 lead.

The law enforcers controlled play in the midfield thereafter and in the 74th minute substitute Eric Ngendahimana scored from a free kick to make it 3-0 for Police.

Gaby Mugabo scored his side’s fourth in the 81st minute before Tuyisenge completed this season’s first hat-trick two minutes later.

"We played like a winning team today and thankfully the players followed my instructions. We scored five goals today but we shall not be excited about this result because we still have a long way to go,” Mbungo said after the game.

The resounding victory sends Police joint top of the league table with Rayon Sports as both sides are tied on six points having scored six goals and conceded none in two games so far.

Elsewhere, APR winger Djamal Mwiseneza beat an intact AS Kigali defense to score his debut goal in extra time of the first period to give the Champions APR a 1-0 lead at half time.

Bertrand Iradukunda netted the second goal for the military side in the second half before AS Kigali’s Latif Bishila was sent off for a poor tackle on Jean Baptiste ‘Migi’ Mugiraneza.

Down to 10-men, AS Kigali remained positive as Ernest Sugira pulled one back in the dying minutes but this was not enough for Eric Nshimiyimana’s side.

In Gisenyi, newcomers Sunrise registered their first win of the season after defeating Marines 1-0 while Gicumbi stunned Mukura 1-0 in their first away victory.

Musanze bagged all three points following a 1-0 triumph over Etincelles and Amagaju grabbed a narrow 1-0 win over Espoir to register their first win this season.
