Challengers CC lost to Kerala Hunters CC by 4 wickets in the ongoing UA Exchange & Xpress Money 50-overs Premier League on Sunday at Kicukiro cricket oval.
It was a second successive defeat for the former champions, who seemed to have no answers to Kerala’s bowling attack led by Rakesh Nair (4 wickets) and Pravith Raj (3 wickets), who ripped through Challenger’s top order.
A contribution from Bob Bashir Songa (32 runs) and Srinath Vardhineni (23 runs) was not enough to post a defendable score as Challengers were all out for 134 runs in 32-3 overs.
Kerala’s Suveesh Kottemmal led from the front with a captain’s innings of 44 runs not out and afterwards, he hailed his team for bouncing back after losing their first game to Indorwa CC three weeks ago. The second loss for Challengers means they drop to bottom of group B without a point.
Indorwa lead the table with 8 points, Right Guards & Kerala Hunters are tied on 4 points each with one game in hand.
The league continues next weekend with Group A match between Kigali CC and Victory CC.
