Half marathon runner Eric Sebahire is optimistic of grabbing a medal in tomorrow’s Tanzania Rotary Dar Marathon in Dar es Salaam at the Green on Kenyatta Drive Oysterbay.
Sebahire will lead team Rwanda to the event which has attracted elite athletes from the region.
"I have had ample preparations and I am looking forward to good performances. I will be going for a medal,” Sebahire told Times Sport
Rwanda will be represented by four athletes namely; Eric Sebahire, Felicien Sebahire and Potien Ntawuyirushintege in the men’s category while Clementine Mukandanga is the only female athlete on the team.
The event will be flagged off by former President of the United Republic of Tanzania Mzee Ali Hassan Mwinyi.
This year there will be four categories to compete in including 21.1 kilometres, a 21.1 kilometre cycling race which starts at 6:00am, nine kilometres and a family fun walk of five kilometres starting at 7:00 am.
The half marathon has attracted elite runners from Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and Malawi due to the increased prize money in both the male and female half marathon categories.
The organisers of the Tanzania Dar Rotary half marathon will pay for air tickets and accommodation of participants and have staked Tshs 6m (Rwf.2.4m) for the top three winners.
