Subscribers of telecom firm, MTN Rwanda could start Christmas festivities early, thanks to the End of Year promotion where they stand to win a lot of prizes, including new cars and cash.

The promotion codenamed "Sharama” will see customers walk away with prizes, which include 12 Suzuki Alto cars, Rwf45 million cash as well as airtime worth Rwf45 million, Robert Rwakabogo, the MTN senior marketing operations manager, said.

"We want to give customers an exciting experience as we approach the festive season,” he said during the launch of the three-month promotion at MTN offices in Nyarutarama, Kigali.

Rwakabogo added that over 48,700 customers would win by the end of the promo.

To participate, subscribers SMS the word "MTN” or "TSINDA” to 4100 and earn points for each SMS. Each SMS costs Rwf65. All the points a participant earns shall be accumulative.

Rwakabogo explained that each day, the first SMS a subscriber sends to 4100 earns them 100 points, 200 points for the second, and points continue accumulating, with tenth SMS, which earns one 1,000 points.

"Any SMS sent thereafter will also earn a participant a maximum 1,000 points for that day. The more SMSs sent, the more points one will accumulate.

"A customer will be able to check accumulated points by dialing *155#,” he added.

"Participants are advised to join MTN Mobile Money service since it will be the mode through which cash prizes will be worn.

"Daily winners will be contacted by MTN staff only through 0784000000,” advised Robert.
