Kiyovu SC have signed defender Omar Hitimana from Musanze FC on a two-year deal.

News of Hitimana’s signing was confirmed by Kiyovu head coach Ali Bizimungu on Thursday.

He said: "We signed him (Hitimana) to improve our defense; he is a very experienced player, who I believe will guide the younger players in the team.”

The Mumena-based side beat Amagaju FC 2-0 in a warm-up game played on Wednesday. Both goals were scored by new signing from Burundi side Vital’O, Miamy Mbakiye while Amagaju captain Yumba Kayite missed a penalty.

"I’m happy with the way my players expressed themselves during the match. It was a good workout for us ahead of the start of the new season,” noted Bizimungu.

Kiyovu recently signed former U-17 national team midfielder Suleiman Kakira on loan from APR FC.

Bizimungu has set himself a target of finishing in the top four in the forthcoming season. Last season the Green Baggies finished in fifth position with 41 points.
