YOUTHFUL NATIONAL football league side Isonga FC is set to be dismantled after the 2014/2015 season, Ferwafa president Vincent Nzamwita has revealed.

Nzamwita said the decision was taken to allow the development of more youth talents across the country. He said the money spent on sustaining Isonga FC in the league will be channeled into scouting and nurturing younger players at the grassroots.

 "Isonga FC will cease to be in existence after the next season because we want to concentrate on developing the U-15 youth programmes across the country,” Nzamwita told the media last week.

He added: "We want to identify at least 300 new talents every year, and Isonga can only cater for 30, which is too small a number considering the number we want to have.”

The decision to disband Isonga comes three years after its creation.  The club was created in July 2011 mainly comprising of players from the Rwanda U-17 team that featured in the 2011 Fifa U-17 World Cup finals in Mexico.

Isonga FC, which receives support from Ferwafa and the Ministry of Sports and Culture, finished sixth in their debut league season in 2011/2012 campaign, but they went on to finish bottom of the table the following season, hence getting relegated to the second division.

However, the team spent just one season in the second tier and returned to the top flight division under coach Yves Rwasamanzi, who resigned last month citing irreconcilable differences with his bosses.
