He is well known in the local music industry for having managed several musicians and groups, with some of them going on to make a name for themselves in the industry. But it is also said that he regularly falls out with those he has managed previously.
Well, Alex Muyoboke will be keen to prove his critics wrong by organising a concert that will feature all the artistes/groups he has managed, including Tom Close, Dream Boys, Urban Boys and his latest, Social Mula, Davis D as well as the duo of Charly and Nina.
The show is expected to take place on October 18 in Kigali.
The concert, dubbed ‘The Explosion Concert’, will also feature guest artistes, including Jackie Chandiru and Burundi’s Big Farious. The two have previously featured in collabos with local artistes managed by Muyoboke.
Muyoboke said that the concert will prove that music is not about rivalry but rather friendship and collaborations.
"This in a way is to celebrate how far we’ve come – from managing Tom Close in 2007, to Dream Boys and Urban Boys. I thought it was important to bring them all together on one stage,” Muyoboke says.
"I also want to show that while we parted ways, I still work with these artistes and we remain on good terms,” he added.
Tom Close did a collabo with Big Farious, also known as ‘Baza’, while Jackie Chandiru and Urban Boys did ‘Take It Off’. Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo, who sang ‘No One’ together with Dream Boys, could not make it for the concert due to other commitments.
The concert will be held at Kigali Serena Hotel. Entrance fee is Rwf5, 000, and Rwf10, 000 for VIP seats.
