RAYON SPORTS club captain Fuadi Ndayisenga has spoken out on his disappointment over the unexpected departure of head coach Jean-François Losciuto.
Speaking to Sunday Sport on Friday, Burundi international midfielder Ndayisenga said that he and his team mates, had started adapting to his system ahead of the start of the new season but were shocked to see him resign barely three months of coming into the job.
He said: "I was startled to hear that the coach resigned when I arrived from Burundi recently. Losing him is a big blow to the team, especially with the new season due to start in two weeks’ time.”
"We were starting to get used to his style and system of play, but with him leaving now, it means we need to start a fresh under a new coach,” the former APR midfielder noted.
Asked what might have led to Losciuto’s early departure, Ndayisenga said, "Maybe he wasn’t patient enough with the club’s financial problems, maybe he is not used to operating in such conditions.”
Belgian Losciuto becomes the third coach to leave Rayon Sports after Frenchman Didier Gomes da Rosa and another Belgian Jean Luc Aymael.
Losciuto, who was getting US$4,000 (about Rwf2.8m) per month in salary, signed for Burkina Faso Premier League side ASFA-Yennenga, told local media that financial crisis in Rayon Sports was the underlying cause for him to terminate his one-year contract.
Sosthène Habimana, who as Losciuto’s assistant, is in charge of the team as the club looks for a new head coach. Rayon Sports kick off their 2014/15 league campaign against Amagaju Fc on October 18 at Kigali Regional Stadium.
