AS Muhanga Football Club are plotting an immediate return to the topflight division following their relegation last season.
According to the club chairperson David Nshimiyimana, the Muhanga District-based side dropped to the second tier league due to internal mistakes, which he says will not be repeated as they seek a quick promotion.
He said: "Muhanga residents are passionate about football, so they can’t allow their team to fall into oblivion. With support from the District, we are determined to correct our mistakes in a bid to take back our club to the first division next year.”
Nshimiyimana said Muhanga’s foundation will be built on young players from the neighbouring high schools.
"There will no more salary issues and internal wrangles which seemed to undermine the club last season,” he added.
Nshimiyimana revealed that they have submitted a budget proposal of Rwf50 million to the Muhanga District authorities and they hope this money is enough for the club to sail through the second division.
Last season, AS Muhanga was dogged by misunderstandings between players and the executive committee over salary issues. As a result players didn’t turn up for their last game against APR in protest against non-payment of their salaries.
