Top technicians of African football gathered in Cairo early this week for a two-day conference to analyse the 2014 Fifa World Cup which was held in Brazil. 

Following similar events held recently in Panama and Saint-Petersburg for the member associations of the Americas and Europe, head coaches and technical directors of all African national teams were invited by Fifa and Caf to analyse football’s flagship event from a technical perspective.

The aim of the conference which was attended by Rwanda national team head coach Stephen Constantine and Technical Director Lee Johnson was to learn from the World Cup and channel its success into football development at all levels around the world.

These conferences are key platforms to complement and further develop the report on the 2014 Fifa World Cup Brazil recently published by Fifa’s Technical Study Group, with the aim of providing an educational tool for the development of football to FIFA’s 209 member associations.

At Brazil’s World Cup, Africa was represented by five nations namely; Algeria, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana and Nigeria.

This is the fourth time the conference is being organised after the 2002, 2006 and 2010 Fifa World Cups.
