Scanad, one of the leading integrated communication agencies in sub-Saharan, bagged three trophies at the just-concluded Loerie Awards 2014 held in Cape Town, South Africa.
The agency, a sister firm of Scanad Rwanda, won a silver Loerie for its Roofings print campaign, a bronze Loerie for the Airtel Money print campaign and another bronze in the media innovation category for the Roofings razor wire advert under its Uganda subsidiary. It also received a certificate in craft category for the Roofings print campaign.
Launched in 1978, the Loeries celebrate creative talent in the advertising industry in African and the Middle East.
Scanad is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya and has offices in Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ghana and Nigeria.
Commenting on the awards, Amol Kulkarni, the Scanad creative director, said the accolades were a milestone for the agency, adding that the team was motivated by last year’s silver Loerie to achieve more. According to Joyce Gathu, the Scanad Uganda manager, the awards are a reward for the long hours put in by the team.
Airtel Uganda chief marketing officer, Prasoon Lal commended Scanad’s success, saying Scanad’s win is also a win for Airtel.
"We are proud to be working with a team that is setting a new standard in Africa’s advertising industry,” Lal said.
Oliver Lalani, the executive director of Roofings Group, said: "This is a testimony that branding has become an important factor globally.
