APR HANDBALL CLUB ended Police’s months-old unbeaten record as they defeated the cops side by a ten-point margin over the weekend at Kimisagara Youth Sports Centre.
APR beat Police 36-26 with Dieudonne Nyirimanzi bagging 12 points for the military side while Gilbert Mutuyimana was Police’s top scorer with 10 points, respectively.
APR handball club coach Vianney Munyangondo said, "We have ended Police’s unbeaten run this season and our focus remains finishing in the more respectable positions this season,”
Meanwhile, defending Champions Gicumbi also extended their hopes of retaining the title by beating St Alloys 26-24 while Kigoma registered a 26-17 win over Nyakabanda.
However, Police remain at the summit of the league standings with 40 points from 15 matches played this season. They are followed by Gicumbi who have 36 points with four matches in hand.
APR’s win propelled them to third position with 32 points with two matches left to wrap up their season while Kigoma lie in 4th position.
