Police in Nyarugenge District are holding a woman found in possession of 40 kilogrammes of cannabis.

The narcotics were found concealed in three bales of clothes in her house in Kimisagara Sector. The suspect had been disguising as a second-hand clothes dealer.

She is currently detained at Nyamirambo Police Station.

Police are also looking for an accomplice said to have been working with the suspect in the illegal business.

Superintendent Modeste Mbabazi, the Police spokesperson for the Central Region, said with the current good relations with the public, even those still involved in this illegal business will be apprehended.

"Fighting drug abuse remains one of the Police priorities and this is a joint campaign with the general public through community policing, which actually has played a vital role in fighting crime,” Mbabazi said.
