Rafiki Mazimpaka, a.k.a Coga Style, is not only as an architect of the dancehall style in Rwanda’s music industry, but is known as the king of hip hop and R&B in the region.

The first thing I do when you wake up in the morning….

Is to say a prayer to Jah Rastafaria.

What makes you day?

When I am at home with my friends sharing constructive ideas, it makes me happy. When I succeed in carrying out my planned projects, I thank God.

My delicious meal is…..

Ugali (cassava bread) and fish, but with beans as a side dish.

Your favourite attire....

Fitting jeans and T-shirt, with Addis snickers.

My saddest moment….

May of this year, when I lost my dear uncle.

Where did you grow up from?

Goma- in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Surprisingly, most think I’m originally from Rwanda.

What is you dream?

To have my own music studio.

If you were taken to an island, what would you carry?

Of course my girlfriend!

My greatest fear in life……

Seeing a sneak!

What keeps you awake at night?

Inspiration. In fact, sometimes I jump out of my bed and wander in the house alone.

What does love mean to you?

Just an indescribable feeling!

What is your favourite word?

I’m so keen about my words.

My romantic bar in Kigali is……

Carvino bar in Kicukiro.

What is the closest you have come to death?

It was in 1993. I suffered terrible malaria, and it almost cost my life. I was admitted for one month in the Republic hospital in Goma.

To whom would you most wish to say sorry, and why?

My ex-girlfriend. I used to disappoint her much throughout our relationship. But she is now married to someone else.

What makes you famous?

It’s a big list of criterions, but the major ones are: My socialism, enterprising and music talent.

What do you intend to be in ten years to come?

A manager in the local music industry. 

The moment that changed you life……..

It was in 2002, when I was still in the ghetto. It completely changed my life. It helped me realise my talent and be able to be independent.  

What is your favourite game?

Football. My favourite local team is Amavubi national team, and on international level, it’s Barcelona.

Very soon, I’ll get a new fiancée.
