RWANDA National Olympic and Sports Committee is set to introduce a new initiative, dubbed the ‘Amateur Corporate Challenge’ in a bid to promote sports in corporate companies.
The RNOC Executive Director, Martin Koonce told Saturday Sport that the event will provide an opportunity to showcase the sporting prowess of companies in a series of six competitions held over a three month period.
"Each company will select a team of ten employees that will be comprised of five male and females that have worked for the company for more than a year.”
The events will be Basketball 3 on 3, indoor volleyball, athletics, and football 6 on 6, basketball as well as two surprise sports that will be disclosed at the time of competition.
Awards will be presented to the winners of each competition and the overall winners for all six competitions will be crowned the champion of the Amateur Corporate Challenge 2014.
"This promises not only to be an exciting event with great media coverage, but it will also be each company’s opportunity to support Rwanda’s road to the 2016 Olympics in Rio,” added Koonce.
The entry fee for each company to compete in the Amateur Corporate Challenge is Rwf2m with deadline registration set for October 31.
