Clement Ishimwe has been referred to as one of the youngest CEOs in the country. He is at the helm of probably the most successful record label in the country. Even more interesting is how the producer is able to cut a corporate look while working in the entertainment industry. In an interview with Society Magazine, he explains his style preferences and what influences him. Excerpts; As one of the youngest CEOs in the country what influences your dress code?

Clement Ishimwe

Even though I work in the entertainment industry, you are less likely to see me in casual, teen or flashy outfits. I tend to have a bias for corporate style.

To some extent it has to do with the position I am in, most days I have meetings or I’m in corporate circles so I have to look serious and focused.Do you have a designer?

No I don’t have a designer. I do it myself; I buy most of my clothes from ZARA stores. I have a liking for ZARA and Aldo especially when it comes to shoes.Preferred hair style?

I prefer a simple cut, just to trim the hair. Whatever hairstyle one chooses, as long as it looks good on them, it can pass, the only rule is that it has to be clean and neat.

Is it possible to have a proper dress sense from second hand stores?I think one can look good no matter your level of income. You may not have a big income but have a good taste in the selection of outfits.

What style or clothing items do you think men should avoid forever?

I do not think there is a particular outfit that should be avoided; the basic rule is that you should go for something you are comfortable with as long as it is in harmony with your culture.

What’s your favourite scent?

I am an Armani guy, I always use Armani Code. It is good to have a particular scent, make sure you smell good. But do it in moderation, when it is in excess, it can irritate some people.

Your thoughts on jewelry

It depends on your style and where you work, for me I do not wear jewelry, the farthest I get is a watch, a Marc Ecko watch. If you are going for a corporate event or meeting and have a lot of bracelets and chains on you, it is highly likely that few people will take you seriously.

Fashion tips you live by?

Always go for something that is comfortable. At times when you are trying to imitate someone, your body may not blend well with that. What accessories do you think every guy should have?

A watch, it is important to keep time and looks good on a man.
