KAYONZA/RUSIZI — The Liberal Party (PL) early this week launched its manifesto across different districts laying out their goals.

In Kayonza district, the launch was held in Mwiri Sector. In Nyamasheke district, the function took place in Kirambo cell, Kanjongo sector, while in Rusizi it took place at Kamashangi play ground in Kamembe sector.

Multitudes of PL supporters danced and chanted party songs in Nyamasheke. The manifesto laid out a number of things that include, good governance, security, improve wellbeing of all Rwandans, to improve trade and infrastructure and to uplift the national economy among other things. 

Addressing party supporters in Mwiri Sector, Charles Kamanda, an official of the party, said that the participation of residents in the democratisation process of the country is the cornerstone of development.

"Residents have a right to choose their own leaders and to participate in the development of their nation, because participation of residents remains the basis for development,” Kamanda told supporters.

He was flanked by Donatira Mukabalisa, who briefed supporters on the history of the party, urging members to feel free and to elect parliamentary representatives of their choice.

The duo also explained to residents the significance of the party flag. The flag is made up of green and yellow colors with three stars. The symbols, they said, represent three main goals of PL. The goals include freedom of all, justice and development.

In Rusizi, Silas Munyaneza, the President of PL in Western Province, urged the audience to vote for PL parliamentary candidates, saying PL strives for true justice and development in the country. He pledged they would fight against injustice and corruption in the region.

"The prevailing liberty in the country is one of the main objectives which the party fought for and achieved in the last 14 years,” Munyaneza said.

"I encourage you all to vote for our candidates in the forthcoming parliamentary elections,” he added.

He further told the party’s supporters that political parties in the country do not fight each other but they collaborate, share ideas, experiences and have same direction of developing the nation in all aspects.

Munyaneza urged party faithful to show discipline during the election period and to always fight against ignorance, poverty, genocide ideology and ethnic discrimination in the region.

During the function, 7 PL parliamentary candidates including one man and six ladies were introduced before party supporters.
