Seven-time league champions Rayon Sports have signed Police FC captain Moussa Mutuyimana and forward Jerome Sina, both on a two-year contract.
The two clubs declined to reveal the transfer money that exchanged hands, however according to reliable sources, Rayon Sports paid around Rwf18 million for both players.
"It’s true we have signed them and we are now going to submit the list of our squad for next season to Ferwafa. We are happy to have them as Rayon Sports players,” Rayon Sport president Theogene Ntampaka told Times Sport on Wednesday.
Both players were key to Police finishing in third place at this year’s Cecafa Kagame Cup held in Kigali last month, and are expected to be getting an increased monthly salary to what they have been on.
Sina, who is returning to Rayon for a second spell, has been getting Rwf400, 000 per month, while Mutuyimana has been earning Rwf300, 000 at their former club.
Police signed Sina from FC Lupopo of DR Congo last season for Rwf4m, while Mutuyimana signed from local league side Marines FC also for Rwf4m two years ago.
According to earlier reports, the pair was being eyed by other regional teams including Tanzanian giants Simba and Yanga as well as Kenyan side Sofapaka.
Another player expected to leave Police FC before the start of the new season is Uganda-born striker Peter Kagabo, who, like Sina and Mutuyimana, still has one year left on his contract.
The Police FC spokesperson Jean de Mayira also confirmed the departure of the players. He said: "We were in talks with many teams but its Rayon Sports, who came with a better offer.”
